Sanjiv Sarma (Milumoni) is basicaly an M Sc in physics from Gauhati University.
After passing out, however, due to his inherent interest in jounalism and communication, he joined as a sub-editor in 'The Sentinel', then under Mr Dhiren Bezbarua.
While a student, he had written numerous articles in newspapers, All India Radio (AIR), Guwahati etc. Also he did many programmes in Guwahati Doordarshan (voice overs for many documentaries, which used to be aired even in the nineties when he was in the USA), AIR etc.
Also he was an expert in repairing electronic goods like radio, music decks, TVs etc and even used to repair so many of our GU Campus's people's gadgets (of course for free).
After working with 'The Sentinel' for a few years, he got a state govt job with the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) as a gazetted officer. His boss was at that time Mr Dhiren Chakraborty. At that time also, he used to write all the speeches for the CM and other ministers and took TV interviews for many 'big' people.
All was fine excepting for his strong desire to go to the USA, which he ultimately did in Aug 1989 (on a study eave). He initially went to the USA for a Mass Communication course for one year, but then stretched it and even sent his resignation letter to the said state govt job.
And for all his talents and potential, today here I am, his younger sister, without a faint clue as to what has become of him in that great big dreamland called the US, where my brother thought will make him big.

Dear gentleperson who has carried out the background check of sanjiv sarma,
I have already carried out this paid search and tried some of the listed nos. But turned up a blank wall.
Very frankly from india, it is beyond my means to make so many phone calls to the USA. That was why i was appealing to people from NY area (elmhurst) to check.
The elmhurst adrs was his older adress.
Anyway, thanks for trying to help. Will be extremely grateful if someone offers to make some phone calls.
With regards,
Sumita Sarma

Dear Xohay,
Yes, i too tried on the net long time back. Saw the people search scheme which asks for some few hundred dollars. Had talked with the US consulate here in Kolkata, but they advised that these searches are generally not authentic. Have also written to the US embassy in Washington and NY, but they havent bothered to reply. US consulate here cant help as my brother is not an american citizen.
So, really am looking for some help from the assamese community in the USA. Will pay if someone out in the US can help me (on humanitarian grounds) coordinate. I know people are so busy. Even then asking for help.
Still if you can gather more information, please e-mail me at sumita_sarma@rediffmail.com or sumita_mainu@yahoo.com
I am really grateful for your efforts and appeal that you please continue to extend help.
With regards, Sumita | ||
